What is The Minor Project?

The Minor Project: Frequently Asked Questions

These Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), will tell you everything that you need to know about The Minor Project. To know why Leher created TMP, read our blog here.

I. WHAT IS THE MINOR PROJECT (TMP)

The Minor Project is a youth public dialogue initiative to Help End Violence Against Children. Through questions, conversations and an exchange of information and ideas, we believe we can set the foundations for a community that cares about protecting childhoods everywhere.

Campaign Protagonists Minor (a child who represents all children), and Murli (an elephant representing the caring alert society we want to see), take lead in the discussion as they unpack issues, explore places, highlight good practices, show us, heroes, bring us content developed through exciting youth collaborations, gently encouraging us to share the responsibility to #ENDViolence against children.

II. WHAT DOES TMP AIM TO DO

1.Create an open platform to understand and discuss chronic issues (such as caste, gender, patriarchy, disability, climate) that cause violence, abuse and exploitation of children across all sections of society.

2.Education and awareness among youth such that they seek out, engage, utilize and support child protection services and institutions.

3. Build a large diverse online community that promotes a culture of respect for children and shares the responsibility to protect the childhoods of every child.

III. WHO IS TMP FOR?

Youth and youth communities in digital space.

Tier 1 and Tier 2 Urban Youth

Childhood experiences are mixed, they shape adults, and travel with us through adulthood, often shaping our choices, compulsions and our lives in different ways. Young adults relate strongly to childhood experiences, many continuing to grapple with the aftermath of issues they faced as children.

The online world has created for youth a market place, a space to voice and/or monetize their opinions, causes, products, work, struggles, passions, hobbies, and art. Youth seamlessly integrate offline and online experiences.

IV. OUR COLLABORATORS

The Minor Project is a collaborative effort that brought together diverse artists, writers, illustrators, musicians, poets, media students, photographers, influencers and digital marketers from all walks of life.

The execution of TMP is led by the Outbox Project, creative director Mandovi Menon, and the Leher team. We also collaborated with media students of Social Communications Media (SCM) Sophia, youth-led platforms such as We Are Yuvaa and Feminism in India to create a dialogue to #ENDViolence against children.
